Tips for excursions and sights

Hiking

The countless paths in the Donautal, the Swabian Alb, or Upper Swabia up to the Bodensee region, signposted by the Schwäbischer Albverein, make it an almost ideal terrain for this leisure activity. Whether it’s the route from Beuron to Burg Wildenstein, the park in Inzigkofen with the Amalienfelsen, the Teufelsbrücke, the wildly romantic grottoes, or a part of the Traufweg on the northern edge of the Swabian Alb with magnificent views into the Albvorland or to Zollernburg: the region offers many opportunities for challenging or relaxing hikes.

Cycling in the Danube valley

For all cycling enthusiasts, the Danube Cycle Path from the source of the river in Donaueschingen to Vienna or even to the mouth into the Black Sea is an absolute “must”. Our hotel is well prepared for cyclists. Your bikes are safely stored in our lockable bike garage (with eBike charging station). Repairs can be carried out in our bike workshop. At our bike washing station, your bike will be clean and shiny for the next stage.

Schloss Sigmaringen

The castle, standing on a steep cliff high above the Danube, shapes the city’s appearance from all sides.

Pure History: Campus Galli

At “Campus Galli” in a forest near Meßkirch, visitors can experience the Middle Ages in their purest form. Over a period of around 40 years, the world-famous “Plan of St. Gall”, an ideal plan for a medieval monastery, is to be implemented using the tools and techniques available in the 9th century, the time of its creation. The Plan of St. Gall was drawn on the island of Reichenau but was never realized. This is set to change with the “Campus Galli” project.

Heuneburg

A historical gem of the first order is the Heuneburg, located high above the Danube near Hundersingen. In an open-air museum, it offers insights into the life of the Celts already in pre-Roman times. During a tour of the fortification with its southern-style mud brick wall, you can experience the extraordinary ambience of a Celtic lord’s house: Discover artifacts from Pyrene, the oldest named place in Germany, a Celtic city.

Lake Constance

Lake Constance is the travel destination par excellence in the German southwest. Whether nature lovers, water sports enthusiasts, history and culture buffs: there is always something to discover and experience at Lake Constance.

Häussler Backdorf

Everything related to baking can be found at Häussler Backdorf in Heiligkreuztal. Wood-fired ovens, kneading machines, grain mills, and the entire range of accessories. Let yourself be inspired by the aroma in the bakery and enjoy a fresh Dinnete from the oven. With oven park and outdoor area.
